What is the difference between First Year, Five Year and Custom Memory Books?
Both the Five Year and Custom memory books are automatically printed on archival paper and bound in a hardcover. The First Year book offers a cost-conscious soft-bound, or an upgrade to a hardcover.The first year and five year books utilize first-person narrative with "we," "you," and "I" references. For example: "We told special people you were on the way..." These also assume no 'special conditions' such as inducement, c-section, or adoption.
The first year book is created to track memories for baby's first year of life. The five year book is created to track memories for your child's first years of life to school age.
The Custom Memory Album is a five year book which allows the user to "build" a book that is uniquely their own with many special features. A favorite feature is the ability for family and friends to e-mail stories about Mom and Dad, photos, advice, congratulation messages, and just about anything else. These messages are then arranged, displayed and printed throughout the book.
Parents-to-be also have the opportunity to make selections to best reflect their personality. The initial selection is the style of prose. This refers to how the 'starters' are phrased. Style selections include First Person, Third Person, and General. First Person phrases starters from the writers perspective: "I was excited when I found out I was expecting." Third Person phrases the starters as if someone else were communicating the starters: "Mom and Dad were excited when they found out they were expecting." The General option leaves out all references to people and more simply phrases the starters: "A baby is on the way..."
The next selection directs how the parents will be referred to in the book. Mother and Father may be too formal for some, while Mommy and Daddy are too cutesy. This selection also allows for same-sex parents. An additional customization option exists for those parents who may want to be referred to by a particular name.
The user can customize for a special birth type, such as induction, c-section and home birth. Pages can be added for siblings, adoption, and Christian and Jewish holidays.

How long does it take for a memory book?
The First Year and Five Year books are "printed on demand" upon order and generally take 2-3 weeks to receive.
There are two components of time when creating a custom memory book. The first is the time allowed for friends and family to e-mail their well-wishes, photos, etc. Generally, we recommend allowing 2-3 weeks. From the time the final e-mail is received, it can take an additional 2-3 weeks to complete the layout with all custom options and personal messages. The book generally takes 2-3 weeks to print and deliver. Most books are delivered within 5 weeks of receiving all messages.
How do the school memory books work?
The school memory books are a great option for keeping all those wonderful and prized works of art and accomplishments from your child without accumulating a bunch of paper. We will take the scanned images and graphically place them in different layouts which show-off the item perfectly. These images are then printed and bound in your choice of a softcover or hardcover book.
